Procedure for Time of Day Timing: Stop watches can be started simultaneously to read 0:00 hours during the day or programmed to Auto Start at midnight so the stop watch reads the clock time.

OPERATION
The start timer only pushes the trigger when a racer starts
The finish timer only pushes the trigger when the racer crosses the finish
On the Seiko Display Record the TOP number on the time of day record sheet. The middle number is just a lap time, ignore it (time between button pushes). The number in parenthesis is the number of times the watch has been triggered since synchronization. The bottom is the total time since the watches were synchronized.
Optional method for one person operation: If the stop watch and the electronic timer are both running the exact same time of day, then only note the bib number and the trigger number (number in parenthesis) as long as the times are being printed.
SPLIT 0:01'05"11

LAP 0:00'45"11

FOR BACKUP IN CASE OF PROBLEMS: Plastic bag to cover watch from weather; Extra Paper; Extra AA batteries, four per watch; One pair of extra stop watches, synchronized.
At the end of the day slide down the printer POWER ON switch to the off position.
PROBLEMS YOU MAY ENCOUNTER
Seiko does not print or display the lap/split time display. PUSH the STOP-W button below the big red button. A different display might be showing if someone accidentally has pushed the time button or the A/S Set button. As long as the LOCK button has been left in the down position, the time synchronization with the other watch has not been lost.
If we do not get an electronic time for the racer, the Finish Referee will request for the START TIME of DAY to be radioed to the finish. The Chief of Time and Calculations will subtract the two times for immediate posting.
If the SEIKO is too cold the print will be too light to read.
If the SEIKO runs out of paper, continue without paper. The paper is just a backup.
To replace the paper roll, fold a strip of about 2 inches back upon it's self on the new roll. Then feed the folded end through. This gives a much more stiff piece to push into the feeder roller.
If you loose a hand time it does not matter unless the racer does not get an electronic time. The electronic timer person will notify the START and FINISH if the hand time is needed, immediately after the racer crosses the finish line.
Note: the four AA batteries are for the printer only. The timer is powered by one SEIKO CR2032 battery which should be replaced once every 5 years. The units were purchased in January 1993.
The memory recall button only works if the stop watch is synchronized with the printer switch off. Up to 100 times can be stored for later printing. However, to print the stored times, the stop watch has to be stopped. Then before use again, it has to be resynchronized.
