SPLIT OPERATION, maximum of two on course, Timer A for one racer, Timer B for other, timer is start at start and stops at finish, only elapse time is recorded.
Initial Settings
Operation
Note: If the switch is on Timer A and someone finishes, the A timer will stop and print the time. If the switch is on Timer B and someone finishes, the B timer will stop. Always have the switch selected to the racer that will be crossing the finish line.
Potential Problems
Accidental Tripping of Finish Timer: If someone accidentally trips the finish timer before the racer has finished, press the yellow NEXT button to continue his time.. After that racer finishes, reset the time and then the toggle is switched to the next racer.
Second Racer Passes First Racer: Assume the first racer is on Timer A and second racer is on Timer B. The switch is set to Timer A because you expect him to finish first. As soon as you know that the second racer has passed the first, switch the timer to Timer B. When that racer has crossed the finish, reset that timer and switch back to Timer A so the slower racer's time will be stopped when he crosses.
Multiple False Finishes: Even if there are multiple false finishes, the racers current time can be recovered by pressing the Next button for each time there was a false finish. The time for each one of the false finishes will be printed and you just have to determine which finish was the real racer.
If the electronic time is not valid, notify the Start and Finish to verify that they have hand times. If they do not have hand times, the racer needs to be immediately informed that they need to rerun.
Static and crackling in the head set is usually caused by a poor electrical connect on the timing wire. Check both at the top and bottom of the race course. This also could be caused by a old 9-volt battery in the starting wand box. Remove four screws to open box and check the battery.
Timer starts when gate is closed, not when gate is opened is caused by an upside down starting gate wand. Place the start wand on the other side of the gate.
FORMS TO RECORD
1. ALGE printer tape is the primary record - if possible hand record the bib number next to the time on the tape once in a while.
2. ELECTRONIC TIME SHEET RECORD SHEET is hand recorded and is a backup that can be passed out of the timing area for review by race officials during the race.
3. DISQUALIFICATION POSTING SHEET is used to log all DNF BIB #'s and DNS BIB #'s during the race.
