LEADERSHIP ENHANCEMENT

Whether you're an experienced leader with a successful career behind you, or someone with no training and work/service experience at all, there are many opportunities to fine-tune or develop exceptional leadership skills during your term of service with RSC-AmeriCorps.

If you think that's just another cliché, then take just a moment and check in with our alumni.

Leadership is an interesting and multi-faceted dynamic. Maybe you'll be at he head of the pack ... or perhaps you want to experience leading from behind and mentoring less-confident, but ready-to-learn team mates. Either way, as you provide vital services, lead projects, and organize and deliver presentations, you will gain new insights into the nature of leadership. You'll come to appreciate time management, come to an understanding of numerous educational strategies, learn patience, and put into practice a variety of individual and group development skills. You'll also learn more about yourself and how you respond to the many new people, situations, and challenges you will encounter during your year of service.

  Presentations and Community Projects
Sure, staff could provide all the training for you, but how would that help you in the long-run? It's important that you get the chance to develop the skills needed to support others. Late in the year, you'll join a group to consider topics related to Life After AmeriCorps; then your work group will prepare a presentation and deliver it.

Members eager to advance or practice their leadership skills have the option of leading a community project. Each project leader utilizes the resources of the team to meet the project's goals. Additionally, members may lead or support a Civic Engagement Project that provides opportunities for youth and other community members to design and complete a project to address community needs they have identified.
