BENEFITS OF SERVICE

The obvious ...
The satisfaction of getting things done for and with people who need your help is the ultimate reward.

....and the not so obvious
Just ask the graduates of our program. You'll reap benefits that make the dedication of your time worthwhile.

Education Award
$4,725 for each term of service to further your education or help pay off student loans.
Serve for two years and you'll be nearly $10,000 closer to achieving your educational goals!

Not going to college? Non-traditional use of the AmeriCorps Education Award means that
you are able to use your Education Award for courses other than a 4-year degree program.
Vouchers may be used in a variety of creative ways to fit your specific needs and life- goals.
Look here to see if the school you would like to attend qualifies.

Even if you already have a college degree, the Education Award can be used for Continuing
Education or personal enrichment classes.

Living Allowance ... plus!
$875 per month. It's true ... you won't get rich off of it, but AmeriCorps members will tell you
that it adequately covers your expenses if you live at the level of the people you're serving.

You'll also receive basic medical insurance, and may qualify for child care assistance.

And, you may be eligible for forbearance and interest payments on your student loans.

Experience and Skill Development
Gain valuable experience as a tutor, project manager, team member, coordinator, mentor,
trainer, facilitator, or developer. AmeriCorps members get things done, and that kind of
results-oriented experience pays off when you're finished with your service and considering
your next steps, whether they be career- or academically-oriented.

Through your service, you will have the opportunity to develop some
of the
Top Skills employers are looking for:

1. Willingness to share information and ideas.
2. Commitment to teamwork.
3. Responsiveness to change.
4. Ability to work under pressure.
5. Commitment to continuous learning and skill development.

Already experienced ... or even retired?
We appreciate the talents and maturity that people with significant life-experience bring to our teams.
Consider putting your
know-how to use helping less-skilled members become effective leaders as you
serve side by side with them on projects and as a member of the team.
