If
you like sunshine you
won't wonder why Money magazine
named this community the
best place to live in
Eastern Washington
(see map at bottom of this page).
Known as The Heart of Washington
Wine Country, the Tri-City
region houses dozens of wineries within a 50 mile radius. Visitors
can sample
award winning wines, or enjoy breathtaking views of the vineyards.
Our rich blend of history,
science & technology and the fine arts allows
visitors to explore favorite as well as new avenues of entertainment.
Due to the Tri-Cities
exceptional climate and immediate
access to three rivers, outdoor sports, golfing, fishing,
sailing, kayaking, snow-skiing, mountain biking and road-cycling,
soccer and other team sports are quite popular.
Three
unique cities with rich
historical backgrounds combine
to form this area we proudly call the Tri-Cities.
KENNEWICK was
first home to the Chemnapam Indians.
The name means "Winter Haven", an appropriate title
as the
tribe gathered in the mild climate to trade, fish, and pasture
their horses. Kennewick is now the largest of the three cities
and
relies on light industry and retail to support the thriving economy.
PASCO
is near the site where
the Lewis & Clark expedition
made camp in 1805. Pasco has both strong agriculture and
industrial roots and is the largest city in the million acre Columbia
Basin irrigation project. Pasco is also home to the Tri-Cities
airport,
which was the first commercial airport west of the Mississippi.
RICHLAND started out as a small farming town;
it is now a
huge part of the Science and Technology communities worldwide.
Richland boasts more Ph.D.'s per capita than any other city in
the U.S.
