Email Addresses

Many users have asked about email addresses - specifically is it OK to use username@owt.com rather than username@oneworld.owt.com? Yes it is! However, be careful! We have not made a big deal out of this to minimize confusion. You can use username@owt.com as a return address but you must still use username@pop3.owt.com as your POP3 address. If this does not make sense to you just leave your settings alone.

Note also that mail sent through our system will be represented as username@oneworld.owt.com regardless of how you set your sending email address. This is important to understand if you subscribe to online mailing lists.

It is very important to use the appropriate address to access our services. Here is a table of addresses to use for various services:

  • OWT Technical Support Site: http://support.owt.com
  • OWT FTP Site: ftp://ftp.owt.com from your web browser or just ftp.owt.com from your ftp client software Note: we only accept a limited amount of anonymous ftp traffic - use your username and password when you ftp to/from us.
  • To FTP to YOUR home directory:
    ftp to oneworld.owt.com then use your user name and password. Default directory should be left blank so that our system will route your ftp client to the proper directory.
  • SMTP Server: smtp.owt.com
  • Unix Shell Server: (Shell services by request only) oneworld.owt.com
  • News (NNTP): news.owt.com
  • POP3 Server: pop3.owt.com
  • Web Cache Server: cache.owt.com - Port 3128
